REScoop.eu, with the support of MEP Gonzalez Casares, is organising an event in the European Parliament on 29 April: 'A citizen-led transition: How energy communities empower citizens'.

Heating and cooling and renovations are often described as hard to abate sectors due to their complexity and high costs. Around 75% of the EU's buildings have a poor energy performance, using a whopping 40% of all the energy that we consume, increasing energy costs and creating unhealthy homes for Europeans. However, some citizens are protected against spikes in energy bills, keeping the benefits of the transition local: members of energy communities. This event will tell you the story of these citizens.

An educational photo exhibition, opening on 29 April at 13:00h, will showcase how energy communities have tackled energy efficient renovations, decarbonised their heating and cooling, and launched a wide range of initiatives, such as PV installations or car-sharing, to take ownership over their local renewable energy projects.

The event will enable participants to experience the journey of an energy community through our new energy communities life-sized board game.

Finally, the event will feature renewable technologies that power over 650 community-led heating and cooling initiatives by energy communities across the EU.

Register here by 4 April.

Please note that due to limited space, the acceptance to this event will be conditional to a confirmation email.
