In May 2019, the EU adopted the "Clean Energy for all Europeans Package". A large number of measures that the member states must implement in 2020, with an unprecedented acknowledgement for citizens in the energy transition. However, questions remain: how will the member states translate the concepts of renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities into their national law? And will citizens get the proper right to produce, distribute, sell and store energy?

Dirk Vansintjan, president of REScoop.eu will share his vision about the possibilities and opportunities of the new EU directives. From the perspective of the European federation of citizen energy cooperatives, he will give recommendations for transposing the EU law into national legislation.

This gathering is organised with the support of the INTERREG ECCO project, together with the Social Innovation in the Energy Transition Program (Netherlands). The positive effects of the project’s activities are possible thanks to financial support from the European Regional Development Fund provided by the Interreg North-West Europe programme.
