REScoop.eu & EUSEW

Also at this year's EUSEW, REScoop.eu is out in full force! We are an official EUSEW 2024 partner organisation, recognised for our vital work in helping the EU reach its clean energy and sustainability goals. Our president, Dirk Vansintjan is part of an ambitious team of digital ambassadors that share expertise and support EUSEW discussions across Europe and beyond. Moreover, our project manager financing Chris Vrettos joined the 2024 Young Energy Ambassadors - a new generation of young professionals in the energy sector is paving the way for a more sustainable future.

Below you can find an overview of events that REScoop.eu will be participating in:

Policy Conference

  • Local power, global impact: innovative financing for energy communities | Tuesday, 11 June 2024, 14:30 - 16:00 CEST
Energy communities are essential for driving Europe's energy transition, but their growth is constrained by limited access to finance. This session will explore how public and private funding sources can support the large-scale scale-up of Energy Communities across Europe, unlocking their potential as drivers of sustainable energy solutions.

  • From waste to renewable energy: biomethane and renewable energy communities | Wednesday, 12 June 2024, 16:30 - 18:00 CEST
The policy session will explore how biomethane projects can foster resilient energy communities based on local, circular supply chains. It will highlight the environmental and socio-economic benefits of biomethane production, such as waste-based feedstock utilization, organic fertilizer production and CO2 emissions mitigation. Citizen empowerment and local leadership development will be emphasized, while addressing social acceptance issues and the need to improve the sector awareness. Moreover, the session will present projections for biomethane potential production by 2040, offering insights into future energy landscapes. Finally, best practices for timely and constructive engagement with local communities will be shared, highlighting strategies to expedite the implementation of biomethane projects and achieve the energy transition’s objective.

  • Citizen-led initiatives for renovation | Wednesday, 12 June 2024, 16:30 - 18:00 CEST
Citizen-led renovation initiatives aim to engage citizens and communities to become the leaders in tackling the renovation challenges and enable upscaling of renovation action. Our primary goal in this policy session is to explore the potential of citizen led renovation in empowering citizens and communities to accelerate energy renovations as a key component in achieving the EU’s climate and energy targets. During this session, based upon the experiences of the Life IP BE REEL project, speakers will present specific activities and their outcomes as examples of how local authorities can contribute to and champion citizen-led renovation actions.
