REScoop.eu & EU regions week

Also at this year's EU regions week, REScoop.eu will be participating. Below you can find an overview of events that REScoop.eu will be participating in:

  • Local energy shift for security and sustainability | Tuesday, 10 October 2023, 09:30 - 11:00 CEST
Europe has faced an unprecedented energy crisis triggered by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the same time we need to respond to the climate crisis. REPowerEU strengthens the resilience of the EU energy system and accelerates the deployment of renewables. Cohesion Policy is playing a key role in mobilising actors and providing resources such transformations. This session will focus on how the localisation of energy can contribute to the security and sustainability of the EU energy system.

Panel participation by Heleen Schockaert, project manager REScoop.eu

  • Financing renewables: the examples of CEF Energy and Community energy funding schemes | Tuesday, 10 October 2023, 14:30 - 15:30 CET
Promoting renewables (RES) in cities and regions is crucial to meet EU targets, and how this is done depends on the local context. Some key RES projects cannot take place without cross-border or European cooperation, where the CEF Energy cross-border RES programme plays a crucial role. Active participation from citizens can also unlock great potential and needs tailored funding schemes. Community energy financing schemes (CEFS) can push cooperation and the energy transition.

Presentation by Cilou Bertin, Energie Samen, representing the ACCE project

  • Energy communities fostering energy efficiency and RES targets through EU initiative Green Assist | Tuesday, 10 October 2023, 16:30 - 17:30 CET
This workshop aims to highlight the challenges and opportunities that Citizen Energy Communities face in terms of funding, regulatory and technical issues when furthering energy efficiency and resilience while increasing generation of renewable energy. This will be illustrated with an example from the North Sea Region. Finally, an introduction to the EU advisory initiative Green Assist will show how it can help to overcome difficulties project promotors are typically facing.

Presentation by Stavroula Pappa, policy officer REScoop.eu
  • Energy communities: solving global challenges locally | Thursday, 12 October 2023, 09:30 - 10:30 CET
As Europe faces an energy crisis due to our dependency on fossil fuels, finding sustainable solutions that put local authorities and citizens at the heart of the energy system is needed now more than ever. The urgently needed switch to renewables must also happen at local level. Renewable energy communities are a way for local communities to have control on the origin, distribution and price of their energy. This workshop will bring together different perspectives on energy communities.
