Venue: Europe Direct City of Athens

Date: Friday 1 December 2017

Organised by: Wind of Renewal, Electra Energy & Heinrich Böll Foundation Greece

How do we inform citizens about setting up an energy cooperative?
What could be the motives for participation?
How do we choose the activities of an energy cooperative and how do we gather the necessary investment capital?
What training needs arise as citizens become prosumers?

These are some of the questions that will be discussed at the workshop "Setting up and strengthening of energy cooperatives in Greece" that is being organised by the social cooperative "Wind of Renewal", the social cooperative enterprise "Electra Energy" and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Greece, in cooperation with the Urban Sustainability Office of the City of Athens, with the support of the Europe Direct City of Athens.

The workshop is addressed to members of energy cooperatives and citizens' initiatives related to energy as well as representatives of actors interested in the development of energy cooperatives in Greece.

In addition, Mr. Dirk Vansintjan, President of the European Federation of renewable energy cooperatives, that represents about 2.300 energy cooperatives, and Mr. Jaume Aliaga, from SOM ENERGIA, the Spanish energy cooperative that counts more than 32.000 members, will participate in the event.
