Tandem survey

The ESPON TANDEM project aims to build the most comprehensive, pan-European (27 + EFTA countries - Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) database of energy communities to date. The goal is to synergize with existing surveying initiatives (at national and EU level).

To achieve this objective, it will be crucial to address the 'survey fatigue' caused by the proliferation of different mapping projects. The TANDEM project thus brings together all previous major mapping efforts (e.g., the COMETS database, etc.), into the single, most comprehensive database to date. We aim for the final result, to form the basis for all future mapping efforts of energy communities. The survey results will also be used to develop regional-based, policy recommendations on how to tackle barriers and create enabling frameworks for energy communities across Europe. This will include an examination of the factors that contribute to the social inclusiveness, and economic sustainability of energy communities.

TANDEM has now launched its energy communities mapping survey. Are you an energy community (based on EU definitions of Renewable and Citizen Energy Community)? Fill in our survey and be part of this important and definite mapping effort!
