Social innovation was once again the hot topic at this year's Germinador Social competition, which took place in the context of the 8th Som Energia School.

The event took place in Mataró (near Barcelona) on 4, 5 and 6 October this year. Throughout the three days, participants were able to learn about different aspects of energy transition and the cooperative movement in Spain and Europe. More than 300 people participated in the School.

The winning projects of the Germinador Social include an interactive awareness raising activity for schools, a women's energy cooperative, a community building project, a rural energy community and a theatre piece on energy poverty. Meet the winners here >>

For the first time, the School was located in the city centre in order to make it more open and accessible to all citizens. More than 25% of the participants were not members of Som Energia, which shows that this change was well received

This edition also put particular attention to equal opportunities: The chool an accompaniment service for children, a simultaneous translation service from Catalan to Spanish, and a "lilac point" to give support to possible uncomfortable situations due to gender reasons.

Another novelty this year was the live broadcast of most of the presentations, which you can find here (in Spanish and Catalan) >>
